Thatcher Adams is a cinematographer and video editor, who got his first break from Mike Toth, making photo silk screens and Polaroid transfers with an 8 x 10 Deardorff camera. After watching Lance Acord's dailies from a Pepe Jeans assignment for Bruce Weber, Thatcher realized what he wanted to be. Moved by the poetic beauty of Lance's images, he was reminded of William Blake's lines:
Harris Savides and Darius Khondji were also inspirational figures. Further training under Director of Photography, John Toll (Braveheart, Almost Famous, Legends of The Fall) and Chief Lighting Technician, Jim Planette (Ocean's 11, Traffic, Syriana) cemented his love for the simple and the beautiful. Thatcher has also had the pleasure to work with many A-list photographers (Peter Lindbergh, Anne Menke, Daymion Mardel, Dewey Nicks, Alexi Lubomirski, Peggy Sirota, Chris & Sarah Rhoads, Carter Smith, Reed Krakoff, Pamela Hanson, Arthur Elgort, Anders Overgaard, Coliena Rentmeester, Martyn Thompson, Jennifer Livingston, Richard Phibbs, Michael Warren, Amanda Pratt, Greg Kadel, Kate Powers, Marc Hom and Tim Walker). These brushes with greatness inspired Thatcher to create Thatch LLC, so he could tell visually compelling stories in his own unique style. In addition to shooting, Thatcher also enjoys overseeing the post production process for his clients. Fascinated by the capabilities of Premiere, DaVinci Resolve, After Effects and Cinema 4D, Thatcher is enthusiastic about emerging technologies and the new power they bring to talented storytellers.
